In a significant development aimed at alleviating perennial congestion issues at the Matnog port, Governor Boboy Hamor recently met with Department of Transportation (DOTR) Secretary Jaime Bautista to discuss the pressing need for port expansion. The meeting took place at the DOTR headquarters, where both officials engaged in fruitful discussions to find a long-term solution to the port’s congestion woes.
During the meeting, Governor Hamor eloquently explained the urgency and importance of expanding Matnog port’s infrastructure. The governor highlighted the port’s crucial role as a vital gateway for commerce and trade to and from the Visayas .
Responding to Governor Hamor’s concerns, Secretary Bautista expressed his support for the much-needed expansion project. He assured the governor that the DOTR is fully committed to addressing the congestion issue in Matnog and acknowledged the funding allocation provided by the Philippine Ports Authority for the expansion.
