Manila, Philippines – The provincial government of Sorsogon, led by Governor Boboy Hamor and the Provincial Health Office headed by Dr. Jun Bolo, presented the comprehensive health plans and programs of the province to Health Secretary Ma. Rosario Vergerie at the DOH central office in Manila.
During the presentation, Dr. Bolo explained how the health system operates under the leadership of Governor Hamor. Secretary Vergerie acknowledged and praised the efforts of the provincial government in improving the health services of Sorsogon.
She committed to assisting the PHO to upgrade the level of Sorsogon Provincial Hospital from level 2 to level 3 due to the increasing demand for its services.
The DOH teams will assess and assist the PHO on the matter, as Secretary Vergerie noted that this is a multi-year project. She also committed to funding ongoing projects at Sorsogon Provincial Hospital to further improve its services.
Secretary Vergerie also acknowledged the Kalusugan program, particularly the Doctors to the Household initiative, where doctors visit far-flung barangays. This program is in line with the DOH program, and she praised the efforts of the Sorsogon Provincial Government in implementing it.
Governor Hamor thanked Secretary Vergerie for her support and committed to complying with any regulations that the DOH may impose to give Sorsoganons better health care.
The Sorsogon Provincial Government is committed to providing its constituents with better health care services, and this recognition from the DOH is a testament to their efforts.
