The First Filipino Bishop

Fr. Jorge Barlin was assigned as parish priest and Vicar Forane of Sorsogon, which was then under the Diocese of Nueva Caceres. He held this position in Sorsoogon for almost 16 years or until November 14, 1903 when he was appointed Bishop of the Diocese if Nueva Caceres. he was consecrated as Bishop on June 29, 1906, making him the first Filipino Bishop.
