The Anti-Red Tape Authority (ARTA), together with several national government agencies, LGU Matnog, and the Provincial Government of Sorsogon, signed a Joint Memorandum Circular (JMC) aimed at resolving the long-standing issue of congestion in and around the port of Matnog.
According to Atty. Ernesto Perez, the Executive Director of ARTA, the JMC has been two years in the making and presents a significant opportunity not only for the municipality of Matnog but also for travelers going to and from Visayas and Mindanao. The JMC intends to reduce congestion, queuing, marshalling, and embarkation to make travel more convenient and hassle-free for passengers.
Matnog Port is one of the busiest ports in the country today, with an average of 600 vehicles passing through it daily. The JMC seeks to streamline the operations of the port and provide a more efficient system that benefits both the port and its users.
Sorsogon Governor Boboy Hamor praised ARTA for its initiative and thanked the organization for its commitment to resolving the issue of congestion in Matnog. Governor Hamor also announced the Provincial Government’s project, the Blue Lane Program, which aims to address the congestion problem at the port.
Moreover, Governor Hamor expressed his support for the plan to digitize the operations of the Matnog port, which will further streamline the process and make it more efficient.
The JMC is a significant step in resolving the congestion issue at Matnog port and will undoubtedly benefit both the local community and travelers passing through the port. With the commitment and cooperation of all stakeholders, the project will undoubtedly succeed in providing a more convenient and efficient system for everyone involved.
