On 5th of August, desparate workers of the astillero or shipyard in Panlatuan, Pilar rose up in arms and raided the homes of the four Spaniards residing in the barrio, slaying them with machetes. This resulted to the horrible carnage of the Spaniards in the barrio of Pilar and Castilla.
