The 100 days of the 10th Provincial Board marks a very significant period for the Sangguniang Panlalawigan of Sorsogon as this is the phase that the legislative body is effecting a prodigious change in the legislative set-up, embracing the Philippine Congress structure.

The Presiding Officer appoints a Deputy Presiding Officer, and the Board elects a Majority Floor Leader; a Secretary and a Sergeant-at-Arms.

Committees are organized in such a manner that no sector of the community is left behind in every legislation that the Board would put into law – twenty-seven committees, each covering all matters and issues affecting the socio-economic well-being of the people of Sorsogon and its environment and natural resources.

Indeed, from its inaugural session on June 30, 2019 with the newly elected governor joining the Board, a stack of documents had been presented and carefully discussed one after another. These are ordinances that were referred to the appropriate committees the executive had asked the Board for judicious study and prompt action.

Holding two sessions a week, most of the resolutions and ordinances were approved into law, and some of them were already published and ready for implementation.

Headed by a lawyer vice governor, the provincial Board is transformed into a functional, academic body where each session becomes an assembly of dynamic people deliberating for hours what they believe and think should be best for their constituents.

The profundity of the Board matches that of the executive, and such display of teamwork and unanimity in planning and ingenuities certainly would slowly turn the provincial government and the province in its entirety into a prospect of genuine progress.
